  1. None of them and all of them. I like the old widom of a great writer. “My hope and dream is to be read. Greatest honor is to have someone digest our thoughts and hope. “No need for competition in writing. 7 billion people on the planet. Room for the many talented writers.

      1. You are welcome. I have been writing for 43 years. I have known some writers for 30 years. We learn from each other and we teach each other. Read Donne, Ben Jonson or a Dryden. They wrote and taught us. Words are important.

  2. Comments are more important as they let you know what other have to say related to that.

Also if people are commenting, they must have gone through your post. That simplifies they love reading your writing.

Comments are the best way to get in touch.

So comments for me ,has a greater value.

  4. I believe comments are the most important. That someone took the time to look at, read, and comment on your post, says much more than numbers of Followers who may not even look at your posts, or stats, which I rarely ever look at. I don’t think numbers on a screen can tell me how well my blog’s doing. How much people are willing to interact with it tells me that.

      1. I have recently been active on wordpress and when I recieved my first like and a follower from a US based blogger with lakhs of followers, i truly thought it must be web generated and not real! And the very next day i recieved a comment on the same post which then convinced me that okay people have read my post for real ..haha.

  5. Hi Sunshine. I think this is a very interesting question. Ultimately I would say comments are the best for the various reasons your readers have mentioned.

I would take it a step further though – I’m interested in the depth to which a reader has understood what you are trying to communicate. I’ve come across posts that are very interesting and even complex.Clearly the writer may have put a lot of effort into the work and there are many likes and very few comments. Then those comments give the impression that the reader did not understand or appreciate what they had read.

I guess it also depends on why people blog. If you blog for connecting with others then comments matter. If you would just like to look popular, then numbers count.

There are also some who discourage engagement through the very generic way they respond to their readers. I could say a ot more but I think quality more than quantity.πŸ˜€

    1. Bravo! This is the best explanation of my question, it all depends on what a blogger needs from his viewers, and the game goes on, you made the point so easy, glad you commented.. Thank-you πŸ™‚

      1. My pleasure Sunshine. I thought after I had posted this that a like with no comment is not necessarily a bad thing. There are many times when I might not comment but still appreciate and think about what I have read – it might even inspire my writing. But I’m glad you asked the questionπŸ˜€

      2. We are here to be heard, to be understood, to be seen as so everybody..
Likes are important but comments leave a mark of our existence in everybody’s small world of blogs..
        Glad you responded πŸ™‚

  6. All of them matters when you are looking for motivation to write more. It acts as a catalyst. Whats an artist if his art is never complimented for.
But for some, it might be a way to document their own feelings and care little about people reading them.
I really appreciate people who comment and like, after they read. They motivate me.

  7. I believe comments are important. Stats and followers are mere figures, but comments help you understand that what you intended to convey has been conveyed accross or not, and it also helps on improve plus there’s a personal touch! So according to me comments will always be more important πŸ‘

      1. No problem. +You know somebody took the time and effort for you. Comments take more time then just a like. That means somebody really appreciates what you have written. A like! Can mean everything.
